Terry' Thoughts - April 2018
Finally and incredibly we have arrived in April to warmer weather, blooming flowers and trees, farmers gearing up for another year of harvest, and our Spring Meeting. What is amazing to me is the fact that we are already in April especially since it seems we have been in full on winter for quite some time. It is this time of year that holds much significance to us who are believers in Jesus Christ. For it is the Spring season and the beginning of April that we are reminded of what our Savior unselfishly did on our behalf. He went to the cruel cross, endured great suffering, and ultimately paid the incredible price for our sins. We call this time of year Easter. Let us not forget, while participating in the many different activities of this season, the real reason we celebrate Easter. IT IS THE SEASON WE REMEMBER AND CELEBRATE HIS RESURRECTION FROM THE GRAVE AND HIS VICTORY OVER DEATH WHICH PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US ALL TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE!!!!! PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!!
As we celebrate this most important of seasons I would like to remind each of you of the many activities involving our great Association. The following are some of those reminders:
April 3 – Marks the date for the annual WMU Meeting beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Cashie Baptist Church in Windsor.
April 5 – Our Ex. Board will meet for its 2nd quarterly gathering.
April 8 – Marks the date for our Spring Senior Adult Gala beginning at 3:00 P.M. here at the MRC.
April 13-14 – Marks the dates for our associational deacon’s training being held at Center Grove Baptist Church of Ahoskie. We will be looking at the book “The Nuts and Bolts of Deacon Ministry.” To register for this training please visit our website westchowan.org, scroll down to this training event, and click the registration tab. All the details are found there.
April 15 - Marks the date of our 2nd quarterly Ex. Council meeting and Spring meeting. This Sunday afternoon, beginning at 6:00 P.M., with our Ex. Council meeting and our Spring Worship Meeting following beginning no later than 7:00 P.M. This year we are privileged to have the praise team of Conway Baptist Church leading us in worship and Dr. Jeff Crabtree of Harrellsville Baptist Church preaching for us. We look forward to a great time of fellowship and worship. REMEMBER ALL ARE INVITED TO THIS TIME OF WORSHIP.
April 19 – We will be hosting, here at the MRC, a “Lunch and Learn session featuring Dr. Art Rainer author and Vice President at Southeastern Seminary and Neal Eller Team Leader from the BSCNC. Dr. Rainer will be sharing an overview of one of his latest books “The Money Challenge.” This event is specifically for pastors and leaders within the church, but those interested in discovering ways to deal with the difficult task of money are welcome. IN ORDER TO ATTEND YOU MUST VISIT NCBAPTIST.ORG, HIT THE EVENTS TAB, AND REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT. Lunch will be provided, however, there is a $10.00 fee for the book.
As you can see April will be an incredibly busy month. The above dates are just a few of the events happening around our Association. There are many more featured here within this newsletter. Please take time to check out each event and experience a great time with fellow believers within our association.
Finally, I would like to update you on the progress of our building reconstruction. As of the writing of this article the contractors are hard at work repairing what was damaged during our water leak issue back in January. After receiving three bids our Building Grounds Team was able to secure someone who is doing the needed work for what we received in funds from our Insurance Company. Our hopes are that the work will be completed by the time you receive this newsletter. I want to thank Albert Vann and his team for their dedicated work on this project and your patience during this time of disruption.
