Terry' Thoughts - March 2018
Incredibly we are moving into March and it seems as if just yesterday it was January 1, 2018. As most of you have experienced a much different beginning to 2018 than maybe you had expected so have I. The strange weather, sluggish beginning of the year due to circumstances beyond our control, JoAnn out recovering from knee surgery, people sick with the flu, and of course the damage to the building has led us to rearrange schedules, postpone plans, and rebuild our facilities. All of this upheaval has once again reminded me that God is still in total control and all of my plans MUST be subject to His plans or I am just spinning my wheels. I have decided to use my March article space to catch everyone up a bit, give updates on what is going on around the MRC, and our (whoops I should say God's) plans are for March and beyond.
- The building rebuild - By the time you see this article we would have plunged head first into the rebuild and should be a long way toward completion. As of this writing (Mid February) we have been promised that once the rebuild begins they will stay on the job until completion. According to the contractors the job should only take approximately 2 weeks to complete. Our insurance company, Church Mutual, has settled with us and our Building and Grounds Team is hard at work doing all the leg work to get our building back into shape. Please pray for them as they begin their work. If you have any questions concerning the work please don't hesitate to contact Albert Vann, chairman of the Building and Grounds Team, at 398-7037.
- Rescheduled WMU event from February-The annual "WMU Bible Study and Prayer Retreat" originally scheduled for Saturday February 17, was moved to March 10 beginning at 8:30 A.M. The location of this event will depend on how far the work has progressed here at the MRC. We will of course keep you informed as to the location as we get closer to that date.
- March 5, beginning at 10:30, our monthly Pastor's Fellowship will feature Ken Tan - Senior Consultant in church Leadership with the BSCNC. We are blessed to have Ken with us and I am looking forward to a great time of learning and fellowship. I ask the pastors to register at our website westchowan.org.
- Other March Events: The Annual Men's Rally at Englewood Baptist in Rocky Mount is March 9-10, The Annual NAMB Week of Prayer for Missions is scheduled for March 4-11, Annual Associational NAMB Mission Studies scheduled for March 4 at Ross Baptist beginning at 6:00 P.M. and March 18 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at Meherrin Baptist Church, and the Annual WCBA Bible Drill is scheduled for March 18 beginning at 3:00 P.M. at Conway Baptist Church. Of course there are many other events within this newsletter, on our website, and the BSCNC's website (ncbaptist.org). I would encourage you to check them out and be a part of what the Lord is doing in your churches and association.
- Annual New York Mission Trip: The last week of June marks the dates for our annual mission trip to New York. We will be serving two churches within our partner association Hudson Baptist Association. The details are now up on the website and you are welcomed to register there as well. Please consider joining us and participating in this exciting ministry opportunity.
- My final item concerns the rebuild in Windsor. After talking with Allen Harris I discovered there are approximately 5 more jobs that need completing for the Windsor area to be declared finished. If your church would like to participate in getting these jobs done please contact Allen Harris at 252-536-9701.
I have only scratched the surface concerning the important items that need mentioning, but as the activities, not covered in this article, become available for us to advertise we will of course forward them on to your pastors and leaders. As a reminder PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR PASTOR AND LEADERS TO MAKE AVAILABLE OUR NEWSLETTER to the entire congregation because there are always great items of interest available for all. Many call our office wondering about certain activities because they have not heard anything about them when most of the items they call about were covered in the newsletter. The newsletter is a great tool for communication and we work hard to communicate everything that is of importance to our churches.
Remember I do love you and consider it an honor to serve the sweet folks of the West Chowan Baptist Association.
In His Grip,
Terry
