Terry's Thoughts June 2019
Here we are at the beginning of summer. June marks the beginning of a time of vacation, school ending, summer sports leagues beginning, Vacation Bibles Schools, planting of gardens, early harvesting of those gardens, longer days, and conventions. While we all enjoy these and many other activities of summer, it is important for us to remember not to forget our obligations to the Lord, His church, and those who are far from the Lord without any hope. Summer is a prime time for us to impact the lostness, therefore forever changing lives. Enjoy your families, vacations, and summer activity just don’t forget our obligations along the way.
Now that I have gotten my sermon out of the way the following are some of the activities, announcements, and dates we need to remember:
- I would ask each of you to join Dr. Franklin Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, along with 250+ Christian leaders, in dedicating Sunday June 2 as a day of prayer for the president of the United States. As Dr. Graham has indicated we have never seen such an assault on, not only the man, but the office of president as now. We are commanded, from His word, to lift our leaders up in prayer including President Trump along with Congress as they lead our country. To find out more information concerning this effort please visit the Billy Graham Evangelistic website.
- The Southern Baptist Convention scheduled for June 10-12 and located, this year, in Birmingham, AL. (I along with some of you will be in attendance).
- With the VBS schedule all over the place please let us know when yours is scheduled so we can publish.
- Our search for a replacement of JoAnn has been extended through the end of June. We have been able to secure the services of Wanda Guest as our interim administrative assistant, therefore easing some of the pressure to make an immediate decision on JoAnn’s replacement. Please pray for us as we prayerfully seek the one the Lord has in store for us.
- We will welcome our newest pastor, Matt Ledbetter, to Creeksville. Matt begins his ministry with Creeksville on Sunday June 23. Matt and his wife Lana are very excited about the Lord’s leading in this move and are looking forward to a long and productive ministry with Creeksville. We also welcomed last month Gary Medford as the new pastor of Creech Memorial. Please pray for him as he is already serving Creech and hopes for a productive ministry there as well.
- I would ask that you continue to remember our pastorless churches in prayer. They are Cashie, Center Grove, Earlys, Galatia, Lawrence, Powellsville, Roberts Chapel, Sandy Run, and Union.
Finally don’t forget I love you and consider it a joy serving the great WCBA. My prayer for you is that the Lord would richly bless everything you put your heart and hand to this summer (that includes a good time on vacation).
