Terry's Thoughts May 2007
Spring ushers in numerous activities around family and life. As we make our way through the activity of spring it is important to remember God's work continues as well. Most of our activity, within the West Chowan Baptist Association, has everything to do with "Making Christ Followers who Follow Christ." When we reach out in the name of Jesus we are indeed participating in our collective purpose for existing. Let's not forget that summer presents all new challenges and opportuniities to share Christ and His love. There will be day camps, mission trips (local, national, and international), Vacation Bible Schools, personal vacations, youth camps, and a host of other fun activities occurring. During the summer we sometimes forget to remember the life blood for ministry, which includes both people and money, is still needed for His purposes. As your churches send your tithe (associational and CP gifts) the larger work of the Lord is accomplished.
Our goal, here at the association, has always been to be a relevant resource for you to conduct those ativities God leads you to accomplish. Without our collective support of the larger work, here within the association, much of what we do could not happen. I appreciate how faithful many of you are and we could not be more grateful for you support. I am convinced that the West Chowan Baptist Assocaiation has some of the best people in the world and God remains at work here even though some may not see it. I am excited at what God has in store for us this summer and the remainder of the year.
Included in the activity of this month and the upcoming summer months are the following:
• Saturday May 13 - Prayer Summit at Cashie Baptist Church (details on website)
• Baptist Associational Week of Prayer - May 22-28
• Summer Pastor and family cookout (date TBA)
• July Quarterly Ex. Board and Council meetings here at the MRC July 10 beginning at 6:00PM
• Summer Men's Rally Saturday August 5 (details on website)
• Association wide Mission Trip August 13-19 to Hudson Baptist Association (both details and registration on website)
• ONE LAST DATE I WANT TO GET ON YOUR CALENDARS IS OUR ANNUAL FALL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 15 BEGINNING AT 3:45PM. UNION BAPTIST CHURCH WILL BE HOSTING OUR MEETING THIS YEAR AND IT IS SHAPING UP TO BE A GREAT TIME OF FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP.
Finally, I would like to remind you of the importance of praying for each other. Along with all of the above mentioned activity there are those churches, among us, who have lost their pastor and who are in need of a move of God's hand to find that one He has already designed to fill their pastor position. It is tuff sometimes to continue the call God has given our churches without His pastoral leader in place. I would ask you to pray for the churches, leadership of each of these churches, and their search teams as they work hard to discover God's servant for them. We currently have 12 churches without pastors. Some have just lost their pastors and some have been without for some time. There are also some who are coming close to extending a call to the one they believe God is sending their way. Hopefully they will fall off this list soon. Those currently without pastors are FBC Ahoskie, Askewville, Buckhorn, Capehart, Conway, Creech Memorial, Early's, Galatia, Greens Cross, Mars Hill, Murfreesboro, and St. Johns. I am working hard to assist each church as much as possible and would appreciate your prayers as we work together in finding their next pastors. I look forward to serving alongside of new pastors this coming Summer and Fall.
Remember it is an honor to serve you and also remember I love you each more than you can imagine. Don't forget that I, along with the leadership, stand ready to serve your church on your jouney of discovering His will for the ministry within each of our churches.
