The first weekend of March 2017 Cashie Baptist Church hosted our annual Disciple Now weekend. Several churches from the surrounding area joined in and we had around 50 youth participate. We have grown a little every year and hope the event will be even larger next year. The weekend consisted of several big and small group sessions, worship, and a work project. This year we had 2 different work projects fall through, but we were able to serve the local community by taking part in different cleaning projects at Davis Ballpark as well as picking up trash there and around the Cashie Riverwalk area. Our theme this year was “deviate” drawn from Romans 12:1-2. Students were challenged to examine their lives and question how different they look from the world around them. Much of the teaching focused around how much influence the world has on you and how you reflect what you truly believe. The spirit moved in the hearts of the youth the last night and the teaching pleaded with the youth to be different from the world. They were charged with standing up for Christ and spreading His Gospel message. We ended the weekend with a friendly game of glow stick kickball.
