Terry's Thoughts February 2020
In keeping with our unofficial 2020 theme of “Returning to Holiness” and while reading the book of Hebrews, I was struck by a passage in chapter 12 that reminded me of the importance of maintaining His holiness in my life. In the midst of discussing our Heavenly Father’s occasional discipline for His children, the author of Hebrews, who is directed by the Holy Spirit, reminds us that His occasional loving discipline is for our “benefit” in order for us to “… share in His Holiness.” Isn’t it interesting that holiness, for the believer, affects all aspects of our lives?! In other words the critical nature of remaining holy allows us to navigate this life and meet those challenges that continue to drag us down. In His holiness we have overcome just as He has overcome. ISN’T THAT AMAZING AND POWERFUL TO REALIZE?!!!! So as we go about our everyday life be reminded to always be looking for those things that keep us from His holiness and remove them from our lives. In fact the very souls of those without Christ are depending on us to show them how to get hope and are looking for something that can bring them joy. That something is Jesus and our responsibility to show the world how they too can have real hope and joy through a life devoted to His Holiness!
