Terry's Thoughts March 2017
Someone has once said, "it is extremely important to occasionally evaluate your activity in order to insure the organization is moving inthe direction desired." I couldn't agree more. To that end we have scheduled a time for evaluation here within our association. In associational terms we call this a time for an assessment. The dates of this assessment is March 27 and 28. One very important aspect of this assessment is a time to interview our church pastors and leaders to see how effective we are and they are in reaching our stated purposes. The Leadership Development Team and Ihave been working to contact each of our pastors in order to schedule a time for their interview. We will have DOM's from outside our association conducting these interviews and with the help of our state convention we will crunch all the data in order to make recommendations to our leadership and you the association.
Not only do Istrongly encourage our pastors to participate, but Ialso ask you to pray for this process. This tool is essential for our association to make sure we are doing all we can to assist our churches to achieve all they believe the Lord is leading them to accomplish. For me personally, this time will indicate what more Ican do to be who YOU need ME to be. As Isay each time Ispeak to our folks "we exist to serve the churches not the other way around." Having the ability to serve you, as Iso desire to do, depends on your financial and practical participation with the association. God is at work here within our association and the business of making disciples is working, therefore, it is important for you to participate. Join me as we seek to always be where He is at work and not distracted by the unimportant matters the enemy throws in our path. I look forward to this process and the future it will help us to achieve.
The following are more dates Iwant to make sure you are aware of:
March 2 - Baptist Men's training presented by the Baptist Men's department of North Carolina. This will be an excellent time to discover how to begin a Brotherhood or Baptist Men's ministry and to encourage you to strengthen your current group. Please register your attendance on our website at westchowan.org .
March 6 - Pastor's Fellowship with Daryl Trexler of the NC Baptist Foundation. Please register your attendance, pastors, at the website, our office, or my email dad.stockman@ gmail.com. March 5-12 marks our Week of Prayer for North American Mission Board Missions offering and study. Itrust your churches will be observing this week of prayer, giving to the offering, and participating in our March 12 study overview scheduled for 3:00 P.M. that Sunday afternoon at Merry Hill Baptist Church.
March 17 -18 are the dates for the BSCNC Missions Conference being held at Calvary Baptist Winston - Salem. Go to the convention website www.ncbaptist.org for more information.
March 19 - Association Bible Drill will be held at Galatia Baptist church beginning at 3:00 P.M. March 24-25 are the dates for the state WMU Mission Extravaganza in Greensboro. Go to their website for more information.
March 27 -28 again are the dates for our Associational Assessment (see details above).
My final thought for this article is to remind you of our upcoming April Quarterly/Spring Meeting scheduled for Sunday April 9 beginning at 6:00 P.M. This marks a change from our usual schedule and dates but represents an effort to be more effective as well as efficient with our meetings. Hopefully it will also allow more of our folks to participate. Please mark your calendars and plan to participate. Remember we do so much more when we are together than when we are apart or not involved. As always please know Ilove you and consider it an honor to serve each of you.
