This February 12th, 2017, I had the blessing to leave on a plane to start a long journey that would land me in a town called Garissa. Garissa is on the border of Somalia in Kenya. Where I would pray my way through what the Lord had me to do and see while I was to spend 10 days in this town that is predominantly Muslim.
I was going on this adventure to encourage The Witt Family, Jason Rebekah and their 4 girls, Righteous, Nevaeh, Charis and Samara who are currently missionaries in Garissa. To also see how we as a family in Christ could serve this family who have devoted their lives to reach the people of Garissa and the many unreached people groups in the area around them.
As the Lord so graciously answered so many prayers, we were able to bring the need encouragement to this family~ that they were not alone or forgotten but loved and held by their Father in Heaven.
I saw so many ways the Lord was at work through this family and other missionaries there. They were LIght in such a dark place where it is 98% muslim. To make clear the Witt family are the only foreigners among this town where there are only people who grew up there because of the hostility of the area.
I saw at the clinic, that believers have built form other churches in the U.S. , this family and others serve those that walked for miles to just see a nurse about simple things like little ones with ear infections to more severe infections.
I witnessed the favor of the LORD upon the work of their hands as I came upon an oasis type area, that is the farm that Jason and Rebekah have pour into to serve the tribes and bring Jesus to them. I was encouraged as we would sit with women and love on them and how their eyes would light up when we would tell them we loved them, for they are not values in their culture and to have someone want to spend time with them was sweet to their souls.
We taught and did a craft with two schools while we were there. We got to love on the children as we taught them about Joshua. I pray we encouraged the teachers there also as they are missionaries themselves. There is so many more details on how the gospel is going out among these children through the work of believers giving their lives to serve the least of these.
Yes, I did see lions and Giraffes and so many other African animals~ The Giraffes were my very favorite to be able to see them for miles and watch them gallop for miles was such a new exciting experience for me!
There is so much more I would love to share about this journey the Lord provided for me and my family to have. He provided in so many ways through people like you who gave. Thank you for giving and may you see the fruit it produces in the years to come!
