Terry's Thoughts March 2019
MY, MY, MY as one of my favorite crime show stars would say concerning the speed with which 2019 is speeding by. Here we are, already, in the month of March and there are so many things happening around the WCBA. There are at least two things I want to concentrate on within this newsletter article. They are as follows:
On Mission Connection (OMC). AS YOU ALL KNOW MARCH 15-17 MARKS THE DATES OF OUR UPCOMING OMC. THERE HAVE BEEN 18 OF OUR CHURCHES STEP FORWARD TO HOST 19 OF OUR HEROES ON THE FRONT LINES WITH THE GOSPEL. WE HAVE MISSIONARIES FROM AREAS WE CAN’T IDENTIFY TO RIGHT HERE IN NORTH CAROLINA. As a review the missionaries will arrive on the 15th, meet their host, receive their orientation, and prepare for fair, banquet, and rally on the 16th. On Saturday March 16 the missionaries will meet, at Meherrin Baptist Church, of Murfreesboro for lunch at noon, prepare for Mission Fair (where everyone will have opportunity to meet, talk to, and interact with our heroes) which begins at 3:00 and concludes at 5:00 P.M. Following the fair we will have a catered mission banquet which begins at 5:30 and runs through 6:30 P.M. Finally, beginning at 7:00 P.M., that evening, we will enjoy a great time of worship, fellowship, and message from our guest speaker with the International Mission Board (IMB). As you can see a big day on the 16th. EVERYONE IS INVITED TO THIS DAY OF EVENTS AT NO COST!!! On Sunday March 17 the missionaries will be with their host churches for a day of mission celebration and information. We are posting those churches who are hosting missionaries on the website this week. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT IN ENCOURAGE YOUR FOLKS TO BE IN ATTENDANCE. THESE ARE RARE OPPORTUNITIES TO SEE THE VERY PEOPLE OUR COOPERATIVE PROGRAM DOLLARS AND OUR MISSION OFFERING DOLLARS GO TO SUPPORT. More details are on our website including registration for the banquet at www.westchowan.org.
On March 24 beginning at 3:00 P.M. the association will be hosting a retirement reception for our own JoAnn Mizelle. As you all know by now JoAnn announced her retirement in January after 32 years of dedicated service to the West Chowan Baptist Association. The details of this event are on our website. We are asking that as many of the members of our churches be in attendance to show are sincere appreciation to JoAnn for the dedicated way she has served us all. PLEASE PUT THIS ON YOUR CHURCH CALENDARS AND MAKE A REAL EFFORT TO BE IN ATTENDANCE.
Of course there are many other great events and opportunities for service throughout the pages of this newsletter. I would encourage you all to check them out both here and on our website. It continues to be my greatest honor to serve you. Remember I stand ready to serve and assist your churches. Please don’t ever hesitate to call when there is a need!!
