Terry's Thoughts September 2020
I think it is high time I begin one of my articles with some exceptionally good news. Even though there is plenty to drag us down there is plenty to celebrate as well. The most exciting news we could share is that souls are still being won to Christ and baptisms are still occurring during the year of the pandemic. PRAISE THE LORD!! Secondly, I was informed, just this week, from Baptist On Mission that West Chowan Baptist Association (WCBA) came in at number 9 in total giving on the list of associations participating in the 2019 North Carolina State Missions Offering. Out of the 70 plus associations across North Carolina we were in the top 10! Additionally, YOU WERE NUMBER 1 IN PERCENTAGE GIVING, IN THAT SAME OFFERING, WITHIN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA!! Please excuse me as I pick up the buttons that are popping off my shirt. Yes, I am so proud of you and so excited to be a part of one of the most generous associations within our state. In fact, according to me, the WCBA is indeed the best association across our state!! I hope you will join me in celebrating this amazing accomplishment and commit to do even better in 2020 despite the pandemic.
In keeping with this article’s theme “exceptionally good news” I want to encourage you all to celebrate, with me, that most of our churches are well on their way to resuming ministry activities. Even though conducting ministry activity looks quite different than it did prior to COVID -19, and it can be frustrating at times, churches are discovering that new ways of meeting needs can actually be fun and go a long way in the continual development of the body for His glory. For some this has been a very challenging time as we have learned that “His ways” are always best and that much of what we were doing, prior to the pandemic, might have been more of our will than His. Yes, accomplishing His will may mean we are working harder, especially among our leaders, but it is well worth the effort. Again, I say let us keeping pushing back at the enemy and possibly experience the true revival we have all been longing for.
As a result of this “exceptionally good news” theme I am convinced He is not done with us and we are possibly on the verge of something so amazing our minds cannot even grasp its full impact! Remember I love you and consider it an honor to serve the WCBA!!
